Edgardo Tinoco is a third-generation coffee farmer and was gifted his parcel from his father at the young age of 17. It didn’t take long for him to take over his father’s farm, Pino de Oro. It was by chance (or fate) that Edgardo heard about the Cup of Excellence on the radio. He was instantly determined to enter Pino de Oro into the respected competition and was able to participate in 2009. Fast forward to 8 years later, with 3 Top 10 Cup of Excellence awards under his belt, Edgardo is now the proud owner of a new wet mill, dry mill, and car. On top of all this, he’s debt-free! Each year, he continues to grow production, focusing on high-quality coffee with help from his wife Nora and their 3 sons. While accepting his 2014 Cup of Excellence award for 14 placement, he proclaimed, "I'll never stop learning and improving in high quality every day." He’s a shining example of how commitment to quality can change a producer’s life. Edgardo is fueled with knowledge and is able to experiment with different varieties and new processes. In the spirit of innovation, we’re proud to showcase the first year of his naturally processed coffee. It’s dense, yet nuanced and exhibits sweet blackberry alongside complex, juniper-like herbal qualities. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
We believe the coffee experience is our responsibility from seed to cup. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our passion. It drives us and inspires us. With this simple truth and responsibility we are bridging the gap from farmlevel to streetlevel. We are verve. Made in santa cruz.
